About

Welcome to my adventure.  Ok, technically it’s an “our” adventure (our = me + Scott).  But I’m the one writing this, plus I’m “Janetizing” it by adding all kinds of stuff from my childhood.  And I’m an only child anyway, so naturally it’s going to be all about me.

I grew up in this house, this neighborhood, this town.  And after my dad passed and my mom moved into an assisted living facility, we bought it.  And we now embark on the journey to make it ours.  Which pretty much means we need to redo everything.  Everything.

Except the trees:  that’s my one condition for the architect.  No trees can be harmed in this process!  Many of them are native species; all of them are very well cared for.  My dad loved his trees.  But I’m looking forward to planting more!

I’ll keep you updated on our project as we move through the various phases.  This is a major event for us, and it should be pretty exciting to see what we can transform this ranch into.  In the meantime, we’ll reminisce, we’ll go retro, and we’ll have some fun.

I moved back to my hometown after being gone for 26 years. I went from a mansion in Mississippi where I had to clean up a back yard that had been neglected for YEARS! I had nearly 300 different plants in the garden, beds, in pots, and so on. I gave away all but a few… Now I am starting over again. Back on my grandparents farm with my mom and dad… Lots of work to do!

  2. I am continuing to enjoy your posts. I am working on my blog awards and was wondering if you would mind a nomination. Send me an email, yes or no, at belmontrooster@centurylink.net please.
